Scars of a Slap!

On 24th November 2011, Mr.Harvinder Singh is a very happy man.As they say, any publicity is a good publicity-He received all the attention from media for slapping Union Agricultural Minister Mr.Sharad Pawar.I won't comment on his rationale behind the act as one may be able to justify his act at least in spirit if not in form.

What's intriguing is the fallout of the incident. Why should a common man in Pune,Mumbai or Aurangabad going home after a tiring day in office get affected by someone slapping someone else 1300 Kms away?Who has given any right to anyone to harm public or private property? Why do people gather in numbers only to attack the innocent? Is calling a Bandh after such a petty incident in an economic powerhouse like Pune justified by any stretch of imagination?

These are just few of the many questions that need be answered by ourseleves. It's no secret that, most of the times, people who gather to protest are paid puppets backed by some political party or the other.Do political parties ever intend to keep a law and order situation in control? While our GDP grows by 8%, we need to question whether we have achieved enough political and communal maturity to absorb that kind of growth.

I am really really looking forward to that day...if at all it is to come..

Masses, once motivated it becomes epidemic. They can go really crazy and because of sheer size and anonymity they become uncontrollable. In the ‘world history’ it has happened thousands of time, that just a one speech from a leader and people are ready to pick a risk of life for a cause or agenda. Don’t assume that sheer money can buy people… rather I am sure there will be a lot of people who believe in leadership, party, volunteering and general ‘performance based ranking in the party workers. (Whether for ideology or vested interests)

Who has given any right to anyone to harm public or private property?
This ‘motivated crazy group’ is in the want of attention (Bigger the mess – serious will be the action from the authorities. Its the way to push things on priority) It also wants to shock – jolt the ‘otherwise apathetic – silent crowd’ to react. The obvious way to pull public from there comfort zones is to cause inconvenience. One can not argue about the rights with the people who have already resorted to extremist / fanatic path.

Why do people gather in numbers only to attack the innocent?
Well at many occasions ‘innocent’ people do gather to bash-up anti-social elements… Eve-teasers, pick-pockets, rash drivers, drunkards, arrogant public servents – govt. officers, But goes unnoticed.

Is calling a Bandh after such a petty incident in an economic powerhouse like Pune justified by any stretch of imagination?
Calling a Bandh is in a way appeal to masses. Its quite democratic to appeal and hence justifiable. It is up to public how to respond to such a bandh. There are many such announced ‘bandh’ which hardly gets any response.

The chicken shit, selfish, insecure once obviously suffer. But few of them figure out a way to deal with such a situation without loosing much.
For some ‘tough gets going as the going gets tougher’.

I think no matter what… at any given point of time there will be 90% of heard-followers. It’s the question whether remaining 10% of the ‘potential active agents of change’ shows the maturity and shape-up there lives (livelihoods) to facilitate them to contribute in a planned meaningful way. This means they should recognize there own capacity to make a difference in their lifetime and serve towards social–cultural responsibility as an essential part-of life as an individual (whether one is associated with a public institution or party is secondary)

Only 'innocent' people act out of desperation and anxiety, hence are the 'easy catch'. whereas 'not-innocent' do it by well-studied manner and with homework hence do not get caught easily.
